Jinyingtai Chemical-EU may restrict the use of efficient flame retardant DECABDE

Recently, the sub-continental committee asked the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to prepare a "restriction proposal" for a highly efficient flame retardant, decabromodiphenyl ether (eBE). The proposal is mainly to restrict the production, use and sale of ecaE and products containing this substance. ECH stated that information on the feasibility of ECABDE restrictions is not sufficient; it would like to know the challenges that the industry may face if the use of ecBD with alternative substances is mandatory and how long it will take to address this challenge.

ECH stated that information on the feasibility of ECABDE restrictions is not sufficient; it would like to know the challenges that the industry may face if the use of ecBD with alternative substances is mandatory and how long it will take to address this challenge. The organization has accepted comments on the DECABIE "restriction proposal" by December 15, 2013 to collect information and evidence on the feasibility of replacing this flame retardant. The proposal is expected on August 1 this year.

Decabde is a highly effective flame retardant that prevents items from being ignited and is mainly used in plastics, polymers, composites, textiles and other substances. Recent animal scientific studies have shown that the substance may cause adverse health effects such as brain nervous system toxicity and liver problems.
